RMA’s team is growing, and we have opportunities for experienced geotechnical (soils and / or concrete) special inspectors to perform field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects . This role will be working out of our Earth Engineers Division in Aiea, Hawaii.
Duties :
You will be expected to :
- Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
- Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities / observations and results
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
- Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Complete soils inspections, including :
- Earthwork operations including placement and compaction of structural fill, utility trench backfill, subgrade preparation, excavation, placement of stone protection
- Identifying and verifying the use of approved materials, moisture-conditioning, lift thicknesses and degree of compaction during placement of fill
- Sampling and testing of compacted fill materials
- Complete concrete inspections, including :
- Concrete pre-placement inspections : reinforcing steel installation, prestressing, formwork, embeds
- Concrete placement inspections : placement, consolidation, testing, finishing, curing, protection
Concrete post-placement inspections : surface finish, repairs, construction joint preparation, curing

Pay range $ 35.00 to $ 40.00 per hour.
