We are seeking PRN (as needed) Mentors for our Mental Health Outpatient and Family program in Suffolk, VA
General Responsibilities and Duties for Mentor:
- Provide therapeutic mentoring and coaching services to individuals at risk of, currently demonstrating symptoms of, or in recovery from behavioral health disorders.
- Prepare youth for meaningful competitive employment by teaching specific job support skills, i.e., computer technology and use; how to develop a resume; how to complete an employment application; and how to prepare for a successful job interview.
- Engage individuals to identify problems/issues in and as a member of a team, work to prevent crises from developing.
- Assist with group facilitation relating to Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse education and skill building.
- Assist with the provision of linkage/referrals to appropriate service providers.
- Build a support network between the individual, their family, and appropriate members of the community.
- Provide training for Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL).
Qualifications for Mentor:
- High School Diploma or GED required, preferred BA or BS degree
- One (1) year of experience working or volunteering with the youth population required.
- Computer use and knowledge of various software applications.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable DMV driving record at the time of employment and continuously, thereafter
