We are seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner- Child and Adolescent
for various programs in our agency!
Responsibilities & Duties for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner- Child and Adolescent:
Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis
· Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess mental health and substance use disorders.
· Diagnose psychiatric conditions using DSM-5 criteria and formulate individualized treatment plans.
Medication Management & Prescribing
· Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
· Monitor patient responses to medications, adjust dosages as needed, and address side effects.
· Ensure compliance with DEA regulations for controlled substances.
Therapeutic Interventions
· Provide psychoeducation to patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
· Support medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders.
Collaboration & Coordination of Care
· Work in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including therapists, case managers, and primary care providers, to ensure holistic care.
· Provide consultation and support to other healthcare professionals regarding psychiatric care.
Documentation & Compliance
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
· Follow legal and ethical guidelines related to confidentiality, informed consent, and professional practice.
Professional Development & Standards Adherence
· Stay up to date with best practices, evidence-based treatment approaches, and continuing education requirements.
· Maintain compliance with Virginia licensing regulations and professional psychiatric standards.
Qualifications and Skills for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner- Child and Adolescent:
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Collaborative approach with other physicians and providers
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Ability to provide guidance to other medical staff.
· Ability to adapt and work in an evolving environment.
· Proficiency in relevant software and tools to enhance your ability to conduct assessments, manage treatment plans, and prescribe medications.
Qualifications:
· Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
· Experience in diagnosis and treatment of common psychiatric conditions
· Basic working knowledge of managed care and Medicare population
· Professional appearance and work ethics
· Meet comprehensive and professional standards.
· Master’s Degree with a current Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health, valid in the state of Virginia.
· Have a valid DEA Controlled substance registration
· One (1) year experience collaborating with individuals living with mental illness and substance use disorders.
· Must be able to practice autonomously in the State of Virginia
