Western Tidewater CSB is seeking a Prevention Specialist for our Prevention Team in Suffolk, VA.

- Collaborate with community agencies, schools, neighborhoods, and other organizations to identify needs, resources, and program priorities.
- Assist the Outpatient Services Supervisor in planning, implementing and evaluating culturally appropriate and sensitive prevention education programs for targeted populations.
- Participate in information dissemination activities, providing prevention, substance abuse, tobacco use, and mental health information to the general public as well as small groups and individuals.
- Maintain documentation regarding Prevention program implementation data, including participation, number and content of programs and activities, and evaluation of the data.
- Serve on assigned community and/or interagency committees to ensure a viable prevention perspective.
- Assist in the identification of problems affecting prevention program participants that require a more intense level of intervention and make appropriate referrals for services.
- Maintain a working knowledge of other community resources and service programs.
- Assist other Prevention staff in providing Prevention programs, resources, and other family, community and youth issues.
- Assist the Outpatient Services Supervisor in areas related to program planning or outcome measures.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human service field (including but not limited to Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or equivalent).
- Two years post graduate experience providing prevention/clinical services.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable DMV record (REQUIRED)
