What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fab Supervisor position at Western Valley Meat Company?
Overall Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operation of specific production line or area. Supervise and manage the department employees, training of employees and compliance with GMP, QA, Safety, requirements and to meet product standards.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Supervise production and processing activities, to include: Maximize the effectiveness of hourly employees, equipment, and materials to process and package products within planned schedules and budgeted costs. Train employees on job responsibilities, safety regulations, GMP and QA requirements and production standards. Inspect production equipment on a regular basis, arrange for maintenance when necessary. Inspect production equipment on a regular basis for compliance with sanitation standards. Maintain good communication with supervisors and employees to ensure production requirements are met. Maintain excellent safety, quality, sanitation and housekeeping standards. Counseling and discipline of employees when necessary for attendance, poor performance, etc and ensure documentation is completed for file. Ensure compliance with all company policies.
Skills and attributes:
Excellent written and oral communication skills; computer skills including Excel, Word, Microsoft office preferred. Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate, and train people. Bilingual/Biliterate preferred but not required.
Experience Requirements:
- Experience in a meat processing facility, preferably Beef. Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs and production safety policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in all areas of the Fabrication floor, deboning, packaging, and various products.
- Ability to work in a cold environment
- Ability to work with and around knives
- Must be able to pass background check and drug & alcohol screening
