Control Room Operator (3pm-11pm, Tuesday-Saturday)

The Western Virginia Regional Jail is seeking applicants for (1) full-time Control Room Operators who will work as unarmed civilians directly reporting to a sworn supervisor.

The qualified applicants will constantly monitor all facility activities via electronic video cameras and remotely control the movement of all personnel within the Jail by operating the electronic controls for all doors and auxiliary equipment. Qualified applicants will also assist sworn officers by monitoring and reporting inmate activities via control rooms and entering required information in post logs.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency, be a U.S. citizen, hold a valid Virginia driver’s license, and pass a background investigation. Applicants must also be able to perform the essential job functions as described in the job description.

No specific experience is required but courses in the field of criminal justice and or corrections is preferred. Prior skill sets in typing or computer operation are also preferred. These are 8 hour shift positions working 3PM to 11PM, Tuesday-Saturday.

The position offers a competitive salary of $37,127 to $48,769, depending on experience.
