Field Services Technician
Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 60lbs. Ability to climb a ladder and work on roofs. Ability to work in the infrastructure of a home, including attics and crawl spaces. Ability to work out in the field with installation and construction of infrastructure and extending service area. Ability to work in all inclement weather conditions. Must be able to use tools to install equipment.
Work Environment: Tasks are regularly performed with exposure to outdoor weather conditions. May work in high, precarious places.
Description : The Field Service Technician is the face of the company when performing installs/service calls and requires excellent customer service skills paired with technical ability. The position requires completing customer installations, service visits, on-site troubleshooting, recovery of equipment, and/or construction and installation of network in the field. Work is performed on-site at customer locations both with a physical aspect of installing internet equipment, as well as a technical portion of updating databases. Work may also be performed in service areas to implement network in that area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability.
- Diagnose customer problems at service calls and restore functional service to existing customers.
- Install new customers with Internet service, which includes mounting equipment at roof height or where deemed necessary, running Cat5 cable from outside to the customer’s computer inside, and completing a clean and professional installation.
- Configure routers and customer computers for access to Internet services.
- Perform service calls and/or equipment upgrades for existing customers when warranted or when new towers are installed or equipment upgraded.
- Assist in determining new repeater locations to be able to expand service to potential customers.
- Assist in developing new network infrastructure when needed.
Requirements for Role ~
Education/Experience: A high school diploma is required, field experience preferred and a background in wireless and/or fiber internet is highly valued.
Skills:
- Must be professional in dress, speech, and manner.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clear, good driving record and be insurable.
- Ability to work independently, using sound judgment principles.
- Must be able to correctly & safely use ladders/tools/power equipment.
- Must be comfortable working on roofs, towers, and running cables to different parts of a home and/or building.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions every day.
- Must demonstrate accountability in order to set priorities, organize workload, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Must demonstrate ability to document, make notes, and communicate with customers/co-workers.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
- Must demonstrate a desire to learn; supported with a love for technology.
