Job description
WCP & HireArt is helping our AI client find licensed opticians interested in the future of augmented reality, with extensive experience in optical lens labs, particularly in the areas of lens finishing, assembly, and final inspection.
In this role, your extensive expertise in the field will be leveraged to provide essential support to the ongoing Research and Development projects, as well as to assist in the intricate processes involved in lens design initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of optical lens designs and treatments, coupled with hands-on experience using both manual and auto lensometers. Excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to precision are essential.
We're looking for candidates that are proficient in using Google Docs and Spreadsheets to support daily tasks and documentation, as well as providing reports as needed and following pre-established procedures.
Location Requirements:
Primary Base: Opticians must be located in the Seattle/Redmond area but are licensed to operate in other states as well. You must also be licensed to practice in one or more of the following states, listed by priority:
- New York (NY)
- New Jersey (NJ)
- Hawaii (HI)
- North Carolina (NC)
- South Carolina (SC)
- Vermont (VT)
- New Hampshire (NH)
Requirements:
- Spectacle Lens Dispenser License for Washington State plus one or more of the states listed above.
- American Board of Opticianry Certified (Advanced Certification is a Plus)
- 1 years of optical lab finishing experience.
- Must be able to perform the following:
- Read and neutralize prescription lenses.
- Use a manual and automated lensometer.
- Calibrate and use a lens clock.
- Calibrate and use thickness calipers.
- Assemble and mount lenses on Zyl, metal, and specialty frames.
- Understanding of freeform digital lens designs and of various lens treatments, including hydrophobic and oleophobic (AR)
- photochromic lenses
- Familiar with ANSI standards for both dress and industrial lenses and final inspection
- Located in the broader Seattle area and willing to commute occasionally.
Commitment: This is a part-time, 6-month independent contractor position staffed via HireArt. This position is available to candidates local to the Seattle/Redmond, WA area who are able to work remotely 15-20 hours per week and report onsite 2 times per month.
