For the Sport and Health Centre at NATO in Brussels, we are looking for an experienced and qualified Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor. The centre includes indoor and outdoor facilities, such as squash courts, tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a gym. Open seven days a week, the sports centre serves as a social hub where more than 4,500 employees can meet for sports and other activities.
The Lifeguard / Swimming Instructor will work within the Centre and be responsible for the supervision and safety of the members within the pool and surrounding areas.

About The Role

About The Role
As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for the supervision and safety of our members within the pool and surrounding areas. Your main duties include:
- Ensuring compliance with safety rules to prevent incidents and injuries;
- Responding quickly and effectively to emergency situations in and around the pool;
- Performing daily checks such as water temperature, pH, and chlorine levels to maintain high standards;
- Supervising the use of pool equipment and overseeing activities taking place in and around the pool;
- Carrying out rescues and initiating emergency actions when necessary;
- Providing first aid, including CPR, when needed;
- Maintaining cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas to ensure a safe environment.
Education and Qualifications
- A valid and up-to-date BSSA certification : MANDATORY (Brevet Supérieur de Sauvetage Aquatique) and compliance with mandatory refresher courses;
- First aid and CPR certification
- Previous experience as a lifeguard or swimming instructor
- Experience in teaching swimming lessons or conducting group classes
- A friendly, calm, and professional demeanour, with the ability to react quickly and effectively;
- Flexibility regarding working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as the centre operates seven days a week.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
