What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Lines State Product Manager position at Westfield Insurance?
The Personal Lines State Product Manager has Profit and Loss accountability for assigned insurance product line(s) in a specific state(s). The role works in close partnership with other functional areas to establish and drive product strategy across the organization. The role monitors the effectiveness of all business improvement initiatives, develops long-term strategies to improve overall productivity, develops rate review proposals, and works with state management leadership and regulators to get them approved. The role conducts research on process performance reports inside and outside the industry to inform the process leads and represents the company in a professional manner at industry functions, conventions, and corporate events. The role also maintains underwriting quality standards, utilizes appropriate skills and tools to underwrite large, complex new and renewal business, develops technical underwriting expertise and negotiation skills, solicits and analyzes risk within guidelines, ensures proper documentation, and approves and processes basic underwriting transactions within authority.
- 5 years of experience in Insurance Product Management or a related field. Personal Lines experience is preferred. Bachelor's degree in Business or any relevant field and/or commensurate experience.
Location
Hybrid defined as three or more days per week in the office.

- Owns Profit and Loss accountability for a specific insurance product line(s) and/or geographic Profit and Loss accountability for several insurance product lines across assigned states.
- Reports Profit and Loss growth performance results of assigned product(s) to key stakeholders.
- Monitors growth, mix, and loss results across the country, as well as for assigned states and product lines, enabling them to quickly identify and diagnose any changes in trends, and respond accordingly.
- Achieves underwriting profit and growth objectives through product, pricing, underwriting, and other actions in close partnership with cross-functional team members.
- Works with the insurance product management team and key stakeholders to develop a multi-year customer-centric product strategy for assigned product(s)/state(s).
- Communicates the product vision and value proposition to the distribution organization so that the product is properly positioned to customers and agents.
- Acquires market and competitive intelligence, and develops knowledge of emerging trends to effectively compete in a rapidly changing environment and shares that knowledge with the organization.
- Analyzes and evaluates product performance metrics to form recommendations regarding market opportunities, risk appetite expansion, and innovative product enhancements.
- Communicates product and process changes effectively to underwriting/distribution teams and other stakeholders across the company.
- Develops project plans and manages tasks across functional groups to ensure high quality deliverables, as applicable.
- Executes product development tactical efforts and participates in the product and segment development efforts.
- Ensures product decisions and processes are in alignment with company policies and meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates awareness by providing clear explanations for actions taken relative to customer requirements, needs, and industry trends and reports the results of assigned states and industry to senior management.
