What are the responsibilities and job description for the INSTRUCTOR OF ALLIED HEALTH position at Westfield Technical Academy?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction of authorized administrators shall:
- Teach courses in Allied Health to secondary pupils utilizing course-of-study adopted by the Westfield School Department, and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
- Instruct students in the appropriate fire safety, universal precautions and the safe operation of equipment.
- Develop lesson plans and organize class time so that preparation, instruction, clinical laboratory experience and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive learning environment.
- Evaluate each pupil's progress, knowledge and skills in the Allied Health course.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administration team, faculty and citizens to insure the highest quality of educational programs.
- Communicate with employers, parents, and school counselors on individual student progress.
- Elicit health care industry, labor and advisory committee input into all aspects of the educational program.
- Promote the integration of academic competencies into the technical program as required in Chapter 74 as amended by Chapter 731.
- Supervise and instruct students in a variety of clinical settings.
- Select and utilize a variety of teaching methods that contribute to the maintenance of high quality instruction.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent of Schools.
