INSTRUCTOR OF ALLIED HEALTH

JOB SUMMARY: Under direction of authorized administrators shall:

1. Teach courses in Allied Health to secondary pupils utilizing course-of-study adopted by the Westfield School Department, and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
2. Instruct students in the appropriate fire safety, universal precautions and the safe operation of equipment.
3. Develop lesson plans and organize class time so that preparation, instruction, clinical laboratory experience and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
4. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive learning environment.
5. Evaluate each pupil's progress, knowledge and skills in the Allied Health course.
6. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
7. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
8. Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administration team, faculty and citizens to insure the highest quality of educational programs.
9. Communicate with employers, parents, and school counselors on individual student progress.
10. Elicit health care industry, labor and advisory committee input into all aspects of the educational program.
11. Promote the integration of academic competencies into the technical program as required in Chapter 74 as amended by Chapter 731.
12. Supervise and instruct students in a variety of clinical settings.
13. Select and utilize a variety of teaching methods that contribute to the maintenance of high quality instruction.
14. Perform any other duties assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent of Schools.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal Salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract. Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation. This position subject to funding.
