Job Description
Underwriters are responsible for underwriting a complex book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, gross written premium, and expense goals, management and growth of the overall portfolio of business, implementing proper underwriting discipline / guidelines, marketing and servicing of existing and potential clients. This position would report directly into AVP, National Lead for Wholesale Management Liability.
Responsibilities
- Qualify accounts to meet the organization's risk appetite through comprehensive exposure analysis of both public, private, and Not-for-profit companies
- Collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals through round-table discussions and other business-related needs
- Proactively solicit renewal and new account opportunities
- Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers in support of business retention and acquisition and work with customers and brokers to determine their insurance related needs
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and annual rating rules
- Support the sales culture by being a point of contact for wholesale brokers
- Follow proper file documentation as well as treaty and facultative reinsurance protocols, as required
- Prepare and participate in team pipeline meetings by providing specific reports as needed by senior staff
Qualifications
Experience in Private, Non-Profit Management Liability strongly preferred (including D&O, EPLI, FID, and Crime)
NYC Candidates Only : the salary range for this role is 125-160k based on relevant experience. This role is also eligible for discretionary incentive pay.
