Location: Hybrid - defined as three days in office if residence is within 50 miles of Westfield Center, OH or Remote - if residence is over 50 miles from Westfield Center, OH

Responsibilities :

  •  Serves as the technical expert and primary resource for key stakeholders (Product Management, Underwriting, Claims, Legal, Actuarial, IT, Marketing Communications, WIC, Financial Reporting, Internal Audit, etc.) across the organization who have line of business-related needs, questions, and suggestions, including contract language and policy construction expertise.
  • Within the product delivery environment, acts as lead business representative by providing an Agile implementation team with a clear depiction of the vision and business value for the scope of work being developed in the program increment, has content authority within the team, establishes user story priorities, and works directly with the Scrum to resolve any issue.
  • In consultation with a Product Manager and other key stakeholders, oversees prioritization of the strategic capabilities in the Agile team backlog
  • Supports PL Product Managers with technical aspects of scripting and development of policy language, statutory changes, changes to existing policy forms, new form and policy development, and manual rules/guidelines.
  • Supports PL Product Managers in the development and implementation of new product offerings.
  • Where appropriate, partners with external vendors for delivery of services, ensuring core Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are established and adhered to, in order to deliver an exceptional experience for customers.
  • Works cross-functionally with PL U/W’ing and IT to manage the error/defect process which includes triaging, problem solving, prioritizing, communicating, and completion of key individual errors/defects within stated SLA’s.
  • Working with Product Development Specialists, provides guidance and ensures the completion of internal/external communications, policyholder listings, return premium checks, and mailings within the production error process.
  • Performs initial screening of industry circulars/bulletins and determines what actions are necessary and makes recommendations to the PL Product Managers. Upon agreement, collaborates with the Product Development Specialists, who make the necessary rule/form changes.
  • Monitors UOHelp Requests and assists in the formulation of responses within stated SLA’s.
  • Monitors and tracks industry news and practices from a product perspective in order to identify and potentially act on current or future trends.


Qualifications: 

  • 1. 5 or more years’ experience in Personal Lines insurance (e.g., underwriting, claims) with 3 or more years in a product related role.
  • Understanding of insurance coverages, policy contract construction, and insurance regulations gained through previous work experiences.
  • Leadership experience informally and/or formally.
  • Experience creating and adapting the delivery of a minimal viable product in an Agile environment.
  • Experience utilizing an adaptive approach to problem solving and enabling the team to execute towards the product strategy and vision.
  • Experience utilizing critical thinking skills to create experiments for fast feedback on the value being delivered by the team.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills resulting in the ability to interact with employees and all levels of management, including ability to communicate technical industry information to professionals in non-insurance roles.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments and activities utilizing excellent time management skills including the ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Proficient use of various insurance core systems, office and computer equipment and software packages.
  • Physical  essential functions: ability to work 40 hours in an office environment (sitting, standing, on a computer, etc.), operate office related technology (computer, phone, etc.), travel as required.
