**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**

Qualifications Required:

1. Valid Washington State teacher’s certificate with endorsements in Elementary Education

2. Satisfactory evaluations

Qualifications Preferred:

1. Evidence of motivating and instructing students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles documented by evaluations and/or references from former colleagues and supervisors.

2. Evidence of maintaining a positive, productive learning climate within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues documented by evaluations and/or references from former colleagues and supervisors.

3. Evidence of recent successful primary teaching experience with culturally diverse children documented by evaluations and/or references from former colleagues and supervisors.

4. Training and/or experience in the use of the Origo Stepping Stones Series.

5. Training and/or experience in the use of the Journeys Reading Series.

6. Training and experience in the use of Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading and other Direct Instruction supplemental programs.

7. Experience working effectively with a broad range of ability levels using RTI model and expectations.

8. The ability to work as a team member in planning, grade level responsibilities, RTI implementation and building responsibilities.

9. Training and/or experience in utilizing technology as instructional tool.

10. Training and/or experience in administering various types of assessment tools.

11. Experience and/or training with Step Up to Writing.

12. Experience and/or training in Make Your Day discipline program and willingness to implement it with fidelity.

13. Evidence of successful communication with school staff, parents and students.

14. Willingness to actively participate in PLC meetings.

15. Punctual and consistent attendance.

Job Description:

1. Work to prepare students for District and State assessments.

2. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.

3. Provide an effective program of instruction in accordance with the school’s adopted curriculum materials by teaching each program with fidelity.

4. Be a “team player” by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with others.

6. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.

7. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and the facilities.

8. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and administrative regulations.

9. Attend and participate in faculty in-service, trainings and meetings.

10. Be flexible in schedule changes to accommodate other staff and community faculty usage.

11. Take responsibility for maintaining a classroom envrionment conducive to learning.

12. Work collaboratively with paraeducators and other teachers to devise appropriate instruction for all students.

13. Other duties as required.

Sense: The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work outdoors in a wide variety of temperatures; from -10 degrees F to 100 degrees F . The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in this work environment is moderate.
Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight-day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.
Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
