Job Description
The Property Controller is directly responsible for all accounting functions for the resort operations, F&B, and retail (excluding S&M), safeguarding Company assets, seeking value and cost savings through observations, analyses, and enforcing Company policies. The Property Controller reports to and takes direction from Corporate Resort Accounting in Orlando, with a strong dotted-line responsibility to the resort General Manager and F&B Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Daily
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include hiring, and training property accounting staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Daily
- Ensure accuracy and distribution of daily reports
- Balance cash/credit card bank deposits
- Safeguard cash and manage timely deposits
- Participate in daily operations meetings
- Address income audit variances and assist with deposit transfers and guest credits
- Validate AP and Payroll expenses
- Review and approve weekly financial reports
- Update labor standards reports and distribute summaries
- Provide weekly Controller Report to Corporate Resort Accounting
- Assist with billing and folio corrections
- Process and track REN paperwork and Rental Revenue Report
- Share month-end close responsibilities with corporate accounting
- Distribute monthly financial statements to resort management
- Perform financial analysis and variance reporting
- Maintain general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
- Conduct surprise audits on cashier banks
- Review accounts receivable aging reports and enforce collection efforts
- Oversee rental pool commissions and housekeeping reimbursements
- Prepare annual operating and capital/reserve budgets
- Compile budgets into HOA format
- Attend yearly HOA meetings and provide accounting materials

Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience in Accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables and Vlookups) are required
- Experience with Oracle or similar accounting software is highly desired
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills
- This is an in-office role working Monday-Friday in the resort
