SALARY RANGE: $175,000 - $185,000

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Assistant Vice President of Finance is responsible to support the Vice President of Finance in management of the finance,treasury and accounting functions of the company. The AVP Financewill manage the regular financial reporting, timely tax filings, reimbursement cycle of government contracts, and accounts payable.
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Finance.
SUPERVISES: Director of Accounting, Manager of Financial Reporting, and through them the finance team of 30 staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates and manages the financial reportingteam to deliver accurate and timely monthlyfinancial statements for all tax credit and other operating companies.
- Responsible for the preparation of the financialreports on Westhaboperations to the board quarterly. Drafts the board report, provides analysis and supporting schedules for the VP Finance review.
- Primary responsibility for the preparation of the annualcorporate budget. Interacts with other departments to obtain accurate and current information for the preparation of the same. Conducts quarterly reviews and reports significant variances to the VP Finance.
- Primary liaisonwith the audit team in the timelydelivery of the annual auditedfinancial statements and tax returns for Westhab, its affiliates and all tax credit partnerships.
- Responsible to ensure adequateoperating cash needs,funding of payroll,recommendations for drawson the credit line. Reports to the VP Finance about any significant shortfalls.
- Responsible for management of the voucherand collection process,working in conjunction with the Director of Accounting and the contracts team to ensurethat all contracts are vouchered routinely, and that payment is timely. Reports significant delays or problems to the VP Finance.
- Responsible for the processing of construction disbursements and accurate reporting of monthly transactions; recording transactions from acquisitions, sales of property, construction closings and conversions.
- Responsible for the overall efficiency of the accounts payable cycle, working with the AP Manager to ensure best practices and timely paymentof all vendors. Evaluates cash requirements and makes recommendations for credit line needs.
- Responsible for mentoring and leading the members of the financeteam, evaluating the need for new staff and for all hiring and training of accounting staff.
- Responsible for developing and regularly updating accounting procedures and instructions to ensure compliance with government and audit standards, and to maintainconsistency and accuracyacross the portfolio.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in accounting from a four-year college or university. CPA or MS preferred, not required
- 10 plus years of managerial accounting and financial management with real estate/property management and/or non-profit accounting
- Strong leadership skills, demonstrative experience in management of professional level staff, experience in managing multiple fiscal disciplines
- Demonstrative knowledge of accounting theoryand principles
- Strong Excel skillsand knowledge of database applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and appreciation of our diverse culture
