POSITION SUMMARY:
Westlake Academy is seeking qualified and enthusiastic candidates to join its pool of Music teachers for middle and high school levels. Candidates in this pool will be considered for future teaching opportunities as positions for the 2025-2026 school year. Faculty members are expected to uphold the principles of the IB curriculum while fostering a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Priority will be given to applicants who possess:
- Master’s degree in Music, Education, or related field
- Knowledge of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs
- 1-3 years of experience in an IB World School
- IBEN Member
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Education, or a related field
- State teaching certification or equivalent; IB training is highly
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and its emphasis on inquiry, international-mindedness, and academic rigor.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in meaningful and innovative learning
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons that align with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and/or Diploma Programme (DP) framework.
- Develop and implement student-centered, inquiry-based learning experiences that foster critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and align instruction with IB
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students.
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and support student
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge of IB philosophy and
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student
OTHER DUTIES:
Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the direct supervisor.
