Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for PVC resin sales, serving both internal and external customers, as well as other stakeholders such as Sales Team, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Product Managers, Logistics, etc.
- Investigate problems and recommend solutions, assist in placing non-conforming product, assist in commercializing new products, improve existing products, and optimize processing of products at customer sites.
- Act as primary technical contact for all US-produced suspension PVC.
- Drive quality improvement and testing of products.
- Develop new products.
- Oversight of customer processing downstream, including customer trials.
- Customer training on manufacturing processes.
- Process, investigate, and resolve customer complaints involving Tech Svc.
- Develop customer specifications with Manufacturing.
- Analyze comparative PVC grades across all US sites.
- Ownership of responses to customer questionnaires with Product Stewardship.
- Coordinate or conduct analytical, physical property, and process testing.
- Operate and interpret data from lab and processing equipment.
- Prepare and deliver technical training for WLK Sales Representatives and Strategic Customers.
- Represent Westlake's interests in industry trade and technical associations.
- Prepare 'White Paper' reports for industry associations.
- Organize, conduct, and evaluate project results.
- Prepare reports and letters.
- Stay informed about new technologies.
- Understand regulatory requirements and restrictions.
- Work on capital improvement efforts around lab/processing equipment and Tech Svc building.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technical/Chemistry.
- Progressive experience in chemical manufacturing, making decisions affecting product quality and customer utilization, and resolving complex chemical and product issues with customers.
- Up to 25% domestic travel required.
