Policy and Procedure Writer
Los Angeles, CA / Agoura Hills, CA / Dallas, TX | On-site role
This position will be responsible for the development and documentation of the policies and procedures infrastructure for the Westlake companies, with an emphasis on those policies and procedures appropriate to the functional duties of employees. The incumbent will be a key member of the Westlake Compliance Team.
This individual will survey department managers and stay abreast of company initiatives in order to determine new and continuing policy and procedure needs. This position is a service provider for all departments and companies. Continually and proactively research and gather information to improve current policies and procedures and leverage best practices to transform “what” we do and “how” we do it.
The individual will play a key role in the research and cataloging of state and federal laws pertaining to a wide spectrum of consumer finance issues.
The successful candidate is self-directed in work prioritization and will demonstrate good judgment-making ability within the scope of the position’s areas of responsibility. The associate will perform all duties in accordance with Westlake policies and procedures and all state and federal regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, design, document, and maintain operating policies and procedures for the objective of ensuring compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements governing consumer finance.
- Research and catalogue State and Federal laws pertaining to a wide spectrum of consumer finance issues and stay abreast of changing applicable laws.
- Coordinate the development and production of communication and training materials relating to the management of processes and procedures to ensure that employees are aware of their responsibilities under relevant policies, legislation, and best practices.
- Coordinate with the Director of Compliance & Training to maintain appropriate training and development reports and records, including effectiveness assessments.
- Conduct periodic needs analyses for new or revised policies and procedures, and suggest appropriate solutions, including the design of training materials.
- Establish and maintain close collaborative working relationships with all department managers and key business partners.
- Gather information through research, SME interviews, source documents, and review of existing documentation.
- Write various types of documentation, such as operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides.
- Manage regular reviews with SMEs to maintain the accuracy and completeness of documents.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Computer literate and proficient in presentation software, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior interpersonal skills and teamwork awareness.
- Demonstrated understanding of learning & development principles.
- Must be able to handle multi-tasking of projects and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizationalskills.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to collections, including Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, is preferred.
- Gather information through research, SME interviews, source documents, and review of existing documentation.
- Write various types of documentation, such as operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides.
- Manage regular reviews with SMEs to maintain accuracy and completeness of documents.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University in Business related discipline
- Bank or Financial Institution Experience
- Auto Finance or Consumer Finance Experience, preferred.
MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT & SOFTWARE:
- Oracle servicing (OFSLL) or other retail consumer servicing systems
- Web navigation and/or web-based applications
- Personal computer: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio
- Copier, Faxing & other general office.
PAY RATE:
- $45,000 - $55,000 per year
- The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
