What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Intern position at Westlake Financial?
This position will be responsible for supporting In-House Counsel and other personnel in the Legal Department. The position requires document generation, processing and organization, analyzing data and creating reports, drafting responses to inquiries from governmental agencies, subpoenas, and customer complaints, assisting in complying with various states’ licensing requirements, facilitating subpoena responses, performing basic research, and assisting with other general corporate legal matters.
The ideal candidate possesses initiative, strong interpersonal skills, ability to take direction, and exceptional organizational, written and oral communication skills.

- Draft responses to inquiries from governmental agencies and customer complaints
- File and serve legal documents
- Schedule and manage the in-house legal prosecution calendar
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
- Work in a team-oriented environment and meet tight deadlines and prioritize projects with limited supervision
- Ability to take direction yet work independently and take initiative
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience at a law firm and/or corporate legal department is preferred.
- Web navigation and/or web-based applications.
- Personal computer: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Copier, Faxing & other general office supplies.
- $20 per hours
- The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable
