What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Technician position at Westlake Tool & Die Mfg. Co., Inc.?
The Quality Assurance technician's role will be to overesee all aspects of Westlake Tool and Die’s quality assurance activities to ensure ongoing compliant production to achieve a customer satisfaction goals, and to maintain a high level of production efficiency on the shop floor.
Principle Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
- Assist in Maintaining Quality management system and audit the quality manual per requirements.
- Perform, supervise, and ensure all quality related procedures are properly understood, carried out, and evaluated. Ensure that all proper documentation is maintained.
- Calibration of all measuring and test equipment including record maintenance
- Investigate, address, and resolve all internal and external customer complaints regarding quality and workmanship. Collaborate with departments, suppliers, and customers to foster and maintain an environment of continuous improvement and accountability. Maintain corrective/preventative action processes to resolve non- conformances.
- Help communicate the quality philosophy to personnel throughout the organization and to suppliers as well.
- Perform and oversee inspection activity for all product/material throughout the production cycle, both internally, and work subcontracted out as well.
- Maintain an active role on internal continuous improvement within the organization.
- Assist in PPAP process including control plan creation, and maintenance of all associated documents.
- Participate in Advance Quality planning to identify potential issues and opportunities early in a project life cycle.
Skills and experience required:
- Technical skill to operate and use hand and automated measuring equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Problem solving ability with detailed and organized mindset
- Leadership ability with team development and accountability
- Experience with metal stampings, tubing, weldments and assemblies
- Knowledge of processes such as stamping, heat treating, brazing, plating, and powder coating
- Knowledge and understanding of metals such as 1008- 1075 steel, HSLA and alloy steel, aluminum, stainless steel and brass
