We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. As an RN, you will play a crucial role in assessing patient needs, and providing high-quality nursing care.
REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
SUMMARY:
Collaborate effectively with the Director of Nursing, the Quality Department, healthcare providers, and other staff to ensure the delivery of quality primary health care to all patients at the clinic. This involves adopting a balanced approach that aligns with the clinic’s philosophy and supports the principles of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

CLINICAL FUNCTIONS
- Communicate professionally for both verbal and written reporting
- Accurately document in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Update information in the EMR as needed
- Generate prescription refill requests to providers
- Be courteous and sensitive to the individual and cultural needs of each patient
- Prepare the patient to be seen by the provider
- Assist the patient with individualized needs while in the clinic
- Obtain an accurate weight -height - vital signs on each patient
- Assist the provider with examinations and specimen collections as needed, providing privacy for the patient at all times.
- Obtain written informed consent as instructed by the licensed healthcare provider
- Perform medication reconciliation with the patient at each scheduled visit
- Participate in the delivery of patient education as needed
- Utilize personal protective equipment any time there is potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
- Administer medications as ordered by the healthcare provider
- Utilize current knowledge of immunization to safety and handling to administer Immunizations.
- Assist with maintaining sufficient inventory (medical supplies, immunizations, medications, etc.)
- Perform venipuncture for laboratory testing and accurately prepare specimens for transport to a reference laboratory.
- Prepare laboratory requisitions to accompany the specimens sent to a reference lab.
- Perform laboratory testing in the clinic according to CLIA regulations.
- Perform CLIA-Waived controls as required by the state
- Assist with maintaining the crash cart with up-to-date supplies
- Assist in maintaining oxygen and supplies on hand as needed
- Accurately perform diagnostics and screening tests in the clinic (EKG, visual acuity, audiometry, etc.)
- Assist with scheduling appointments and referrals as needed.
- Assist the healthcare provider with dermatological procedures, staples, sutures, suture removal, and wound care.
- Perform sterilization of equipment using the autoclave.
- Accurately and maintain the required written logs (medications, temperatures, quality improvement, etc.)
- Complete encounters and other documents in the EMR to reflect the care provided to the patient.
- Actively participate in maintaining cleanliness of the work environment and the examination rooms per OSHA guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining inventory, reviewing expiration dates, and maintaining up-to-date supplies in the clinic area.
- Participate in shredding and scanning medical records according to HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain security of passwords and access to electronic databases required to perform the position's duties
- Assist in other duties as needed that do not exceed the scope of practice.
- Assist in other duties and responsibilities as instructed by the supervisor and as needed
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with all members of the health care team to improve the quality and delivery of patient care
- Assist with telephone triage and offer assistance to meet the needs of the patients and outside agencies.
- Return patient calls promptly and maintain a telephone log for quality improvement needs.
- Actively participate in obtaining medical and family histories, medication information, and review of medical records for new patients wishing to establish care with the clinic.
- Participate in the training clinical staff in maintaining education, competence, and validation of skills
- Participate as a preceptor for students assigned to the clinic to complete their educational training.
- Attend & participate in monthly staff meetings
- Actively participate in Quality Improvement measures as required by the clinic
- Assist in the preparation of required reporting and written logs
- Complete prior authorizations
- Assist in other duties and responsibilities as instructed by the supervisor and as needed
