The role centers on organizing the Holyoke Rainbow Supper Club’s monthly meetings (first Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.) and supporting other Rainbow Social Club activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and staff monthly Rainbow Supper Club events and Steering Committee meetings.
- Collaborate on outreach efforts, including flyers, social media, and event promotion.
- Build connections with community groups to provide resources to LGBTQ older adults, including marginalized subgroups.
- Foster safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQ individuals with intersecting identities.
Ideal Candidate:
- Knowledgeable about the LGBTQ community and passionate about inclusivity.
- Skilled in communication, group facilitation, and event coordination.
- Proficient in MS and Google platforms, Zoom/Google Meet.
- Experience with older adults and/or lived experience in the LGBTQ community preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rainbow Social Club Coordinator organizes and facilitates monthly programming for members of the Holyoke Rainbow Supper Club, and provides support and resources to participants in other Rainbow Social Club activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a facilitator and liaison to participants in WMEC’s Rainbow Social Club activities by organizing, scheduling, and staffing monthly programming for the Holyoke Rainbow Supper Club (first Wednesday of the month from 5-7 p.m.), and providing resources and support as needed to other Rainbow Social Club groups and activities in WMEC’s service area.
- Schedules and staffs monthly Steering Committee Meetings for the Holyoke Rainbow Supper Club, providing guidance and planning support to Rainbow Social Club group members.
- Contributes to and advises on content for communications to promote Rainbow Supper Club monthly activities, including flyers, e-newsletters, social media posts, and other marketing materials for events and outreach. Collaborates regularly with Holyoke COA staff regarding Rainbow Supper Club event planning, coordination, and promotion.
- Establish connections with various community groups to provide support for and communicate and share resources with older adults in the LGBTQ community, including LGBTQ people of color, and trans and gender expansive community members. Such occasional outreach may include tabling at community health fairs or Pride events, and presenting information about Rainbow Social Club activities to community groups.
- Completes other assignments within the scope of this position as requested by the Director of Community Programs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
- Possesses knowledge of the LGBTQ community.
- Possesses clinical/interpersonal skills to successfully facilitate support group meetings, Steering Committee meetings, and culturally-informed conversations centering on the needs of the LGBTQ community.
- Ability to create safe, affirming, inclusive spaces for LGBTQ older adults in the community and understand the complexities of intersecting identities. For example, LGBTQ , individuals of color, people living with disabilities, older adults, immigrants, etc.
- Bilingual/bicultural competency in English and Spanish a plus
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a changing environment.
- Must be proficient in computer use including use of MS and Google Platforms, hosting virtual meetings on Zoom or Google Meet, email messaging, and digital filing/organizing.
- Must be attentive to details and capable of accurate work.
- Must be flexible.
- Possesses initiative and the ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently.
- Must be able to work on special projects outside of customary office hours as necessitated by Rainbow Social Club activities.
- Possesses the ability to effectively cope with a variety of personalities.
- Possesses the ability and willingness to support the goals and policies of WestMass ElderCare.
- Preference given to candidates with experience working with older adults
- Preference given to candidates with lived experience in the LGBTQ community.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ordinary physical and sensory capabilities are required.
- Ability to work for periods of time on the computer.
- Must be able to maintain regular schedule.
- Ability to be mobile in order to get to scheduled special events at locations outside the office.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Visiting various external businesses and groups within our catchment area.
- May experience numerous interruptions.
- This is a 5 hour per week position, flexible depending on various scheduled events and cadence of work tasks over the course of the month.
- This position is dependent on funding. Current funding is secured through September 30, 2025.
- Must be able to travel in order to attend in-person events in the community.
- Must have flexibility to staff occasional evening/weekend outreach events as required/appropriate for this position’s scope of work.
