RN Nursing Supervisor (7P-7A)

We are seeking an RN to join our team in our Long-term care neighborhood.

• Supervise, coordinate and direct the work of an assigned shift of nursing units and provide advanced professional guidance and direction to nursing staff engaged in providing nursing care to patients in compliance with physicians’ orders and established health care practices including seven days a week responsibility of assigned shift.
• Consult with nursing personnel on shift problems. Monitor critical patients and nursing operations to provide resolutions or specialized nursing care.
• Make routine and unannounced rounds of nursing units to assess adherence to Health Care mission and philosophy.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide technical and clinical support as needed.
• Participate in the development of policies and procedures as assigned.
• Administer IV's, place N/G tubes and obtain blood samples as necessary; obtain central supply items to support required nursing services.
• Maintain liaison between nursing units and the various nursing ancillary service departments to ensure coordination of effort for optimal patient care.
• Prepare reports and analyses reflecting incidents, personnel evaluations, adverse trends and appropriate statistical data.
• Provide guidance and counseling in the resolution of problems.
• Participate in patient and family counseling.                      
• Provide technical guidance and direction to charge nurse personnel.
• Participate in orientation and recommend in service training programs.
• Supervise a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules, sick leave and disciplinary action.
• Maintain attendance records and prepare monthly reports/statistics.
• Respond to staffing problems on next shift to ensure adequate personnel to meet resident needs.
• Assist staffing coordinator with preparation of shift schedules.
• Respond to emergencies in ILU and ALU during hours RHC is closed.
• May function in dual capacity of Supervisor and Floor Charge Nurse

Requirements

• Graduate of a recognized School of Professional Nursing
• A valid unencumbered Virginia RN License
• Two to three years' of experience working in skilled or long-term care preferred
• Two to three years' of supervisory experience preferred
