POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: RN/Clinic DEPARTMENT: Health Services
RESPONSIBLE TO: Nurse Practitioner
RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A
JOB SUMMARY: Assists with resident assessments, physicals and treatments. Conducts follow-up visits with resident as needed. Maintains private companions’ records, conducts new employee orientation for Health Services, schedules and conducts employee employment and annual tuberculosis and drug testing. Completes yearly Independent-Living resident assessment. Assists with medical records and other clerical duties.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:
1. Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia. License must be in good standing.
2. Two plus years Nursing experience
3. High school diploma/GED preferred.
4. Ability to read, write, and understand medical and nursing terminology.
5. Word processing/ computer skills preferred.
6. CPR certification required.
7. Clean driving record.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

4. Employment and annual tuberculosis test as required by Virginia State Licensure.
5. Must attend mandatory inservices required by the State Licensure and all other mandatory inservices and/or meetings required by other regulatory agencies and/or by SVWC.
6. Follows and supports the policies and procedures established by SVWC.
7. Responsible for maintaining certifications and providing SVWC with proof of such prior to the expiration date.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recognizes physical and mental changes in residents; document and report such changes to proper personnel.
2. Maintains a clean and esthetic appearance in the examining rooms of the Clinic.
3. Maintains MSDS books in clinic and nursing units.
4. Maintains full knowledge of the needs of each resident under RN's/Clinic’s care and be able to apply such knowledge when administering necessary assistance.
5. Conducts follow-up visits to residents who are demonstrating difficulty with activities of daily living in the residential units; or have been recently discharged from the Health Center or Hospital. Make periodic rounds with apartment residents either on a formal or informal basis as directed.
6. Responds to emergency calls in apartments and cottages during clinic hours. Follows through with off-hour and week-end emergency calls by contacting resident the next working day and asking if assistance is needed.
7. Assists with resident assessments, evaluation and management visits, and physicals as needed. Performs vitals, prepares chart, obtains chief complaint and gives this information to the nurse practitioner.
8. Performs random drug testing procedure as requested.
9. Performs TB testing, HEP B procedures pre-employment and as requested
10. Administers annual immunizations to staff and residents; as well as other injections as required.
11. Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations and SVWC policies and procedures.
12. Fit tested regulators may be required.
13. Performs other duties as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

VISION
• Must be able to visually identify and discern printed words on either typewritten pages or computer screen.
• Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.

HEARING
• Must be able to respond to spoken words and other auditory sounds including the ringing of telephone or beepers and monitors.
• Must be able to respond and communicate orally by telephone.
LIFTING
• Must be able to bend, reach and lift patients with assistance to transport them to stretchers/wheelchairs.
• Heavy lifting required (over 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds repetitively from ground level to shoulder height).
• Must be able to push and maneuver carts/stretchers/space saver, etc. loaded with weights of 100 pounds.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
• Must be able to use, operate and interpret information from equipment in work area.
SPEECH
• Must be able to verbally communicate in the English language directly and over the telephone and be understood.
RANGE OF MOTION
• Must have mobility for all parts of the body, walking, bending, lifting, reaching above head and use of hands.
• Must have manual dexterity, fine motor skills (typing, computer, etc.)
• Some tasks may require sitting for 40% of the work day.
• Must be able to stand and /or mobilize by walking for 50% of an 8 hour shift.
