NAME: HOSPICE HOUSE ADMINISTRATOR
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
I. QUALIFICATIONS
-
A person who is a licensed registered nurse with a passion for hospice services.

Has training and experience in hospice or related health services area for at least two (2) years in a leadership role

Has operational knowledge of the Virginia Hospice Regulations and the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and enlist the cooperation of many people in furthering the hospice program.

Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizes and supervises the administrative functions of the inpatient hospice facility.

Plans, directs, and evaluates operations to ensure adequate and appropriate care and services that are of high quality.

Employees qualified personnel and ensures adequate employee orientation, training, education, and evaluation.

Implements the annual budget by monitoring revenue and expenses on a monthly basis

Implements policies and procedures approved by the governing body.

Maintains compliance with applicable laws and regulations and implements corrective action in response to reports of hospice program committees and regulatory agencies

Manage and supervise clinical and non clinical staff of the 12 bed Hospice House.

Works closely with hospice agencies who contract with the Hospice House for their patients to ensure oversight of the contract provisions and responsibilities of each party is understood and executed appropriately.

Assesses employees continuously to ascertain their understanding of policies and procedures.

Maintains two-way communication with employees and fair administration of personnel policies.

Responsible for marketing the Hospice House in the community to drive utilization by providers

Develops and maintains contact with key, targeted referral sources to generate new referrals and maintain referral relationships.

Maintains current knowledge of local trends and issues, disseminates information with staff as appropriate.

Establishes and oversees the Inpatient Hospice House Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Program.

Coordinates the admissions and discharge of hospice patients with the clinical team.

Ensures customer service feedback is obtained and tracked for quality improvement opportunities.

Works closely with hospital discharge planners, physicians and hospice agencies to establish processes for admissions and care coordination that meet federal and state requirements.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

IV. ORIENTATION AND TRAINING
Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads will provide orientation and training, as necessary, to assist the Administrator in performing the responsibilities listed above. Training may be in-house, or outside seminars. Evidence of orientation and training will become part of the personnel file.
