The Galleria at Westminster Canterbury Richmond is a vibrant gift shop and general store serving our residents, staff, and their families. We are looking for a sales associate to join our Galleria team.

JOB SUMMARY :

Promote and maintain the Galleria gift shop while assisting customers by processing purchases, assisting with merchandise selection and handling transactions needed to satisfy the customer. Demonstrate excellence in professional and personal behavior and customer service.

Shifts :

  • Wednesday 11a-6 : 30p
  • Saturday 11a-3 : 30p
  • Fill in for the gift shop coordinator as needed.

Requirements

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES :

  • Assist customer with purchases.
  • Assist volunteers as needed with cash register duties to assure accurately processed transactions
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures to assure security, including running and balancing the cash register
  • Reorder specific necessities weekly; price and restock to keep the store supplied with necessities for the day
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment to assure a safe and clean store
  • Additional duties as assigned

    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Walking 20% of time from store to store
  • Standing for 2-hour intervals
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance, 26 pounds with manual or mechanical assistance
  • Ability to push cart with merchandise
  • Bending and reaching to unpack large boxes of merchandise

    • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY :

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Basic math skills for cashier duties
  • Ability to count money, give change and balance a register

    • DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY :

  • Ability to creatively display merchandise
  • Previous experience working with volunteers
  • Operate computerized cash register

    • REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

    • DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Experience working with seniors
  • Retail experience

    • REQUIRED BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES :

  • Patience to assist customers with personalized shopping assistance
  • High level of customer service with tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Sales oriented self-starter
  • Willing to take the initiative in cleaning, maintaining and stocking the store
