Assistant Teacher

Job Overview
The Extended Care Teacher creates a caring and safe environment for the children and creates activities during the Extended Care portion of the day. Extended Care Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs based on the current classroom curriculum unit. She/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Extended Care Teachers are responsible for relaying pertinent information to families at pick up time. Extended Care Teachers are responsible for closing the preschool building each day.

Duties

· A strong understanding of child development.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· Basic computer and phone app skills.

· High energy and the ability to handle an, at times, mentally challenging/exhausting atmosphere.

· Work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team/child focused environment.

· Work well with children acknowledging their unique development levels and learning styles.

Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED, and significant college credit in early childhood education or related field of study. CDA or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred.

· Minimum 2 years verified group experience with age 2-6

· Must maintain a current NECPRS profile.

· Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification

· Prepare to Care, Safe With You & Health and Safety trainings completed according to requirements

· Must clear full background check, to include fingerprinting, and must pass health screening.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.26 - $16.16 per hour
