Assistant Coach I, Women’s Basketball
(Part-Time, Non-Benefited)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Coach I, Women’s Basketball is a part-time hourly position which reports to the Head Coach for Women’s Basketball. The Assistant Coach I is responsible with assisting the coaching and management of the women’s basketball program, including recruitment and retention of student-athletes, coaching during practices, games, and camps, scouting opponents, and reviewing game film. Westminster University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA II) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the head coach with the recruitment and retention of qualified student athletes
- General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and experience in coaching women’s basketball
- Assist with coaching during practices, games, and camps
- Assist with scouting of opponents and game video review with team

Assist the head coach with administrative tasks as assigned which includes following but not limited to:
- Travel arrangements
- Overseeing academic progress of student athletes
- Team equipment
- Fundraising activities
- Community service
- Compliance with institutional, conference and national governing regulations
- Required to provide and/or secure and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification
- Commitment to welfare and development of student athletes within the NCAA II philosophy
- Work closely with other staff to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university learning environment and support the academic success of student-athletes
- Perform all responsibilities with the highest ethical standards consistent with the University’s mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrate record of success in coaching and recruiting student athletes at the collegiate level
- Up to one year of relevant work experience
- Ability to work independently
- Strong leadership, motivational and organizational skills
- Effective interpersonal and public relation communication skills
- Ability to create a positive atmosphere conducive to learning
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with high standards and goals
- Commitment to high academic and professional standards
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Schedule outside normal business hours some.
- This position will require some irregular work schedule including days, nights, weekends and travel some.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular travel throughout the year and/or at specified times of the year
