Meldrum Science Center Outreach Assistant

Position Summary
A Meldrum Science Center Outreach Assistant is responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of public science programs, workshops, and events.
Primary Responsibilities
- Gain knowledge of how to design and organize science outreach programs, including creating engaging activities that match educational and thematic goals.
- Develop a deeper understanding of the role of science outreach in society, including the importance of bridging the gap between academic institutions and the public.
- Improve upon their scientific communication skills, building the ability to explain complex scientific concepts in clear, accessible and engaging ways that is tailored to specific audiences.
- Gain experience in working as part of a larger outreach team to achieve goals.
- Gain laboratory experience in preparing chemical and biological resources required for activities.
- 4 semester credits in a chemistry course
- Understanding of introductory chemistry
- Experience working with kids
- Ability to pass a background check
