Description
Operates cleaning equipment and performs routine manual labor involving janitorial duties.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Operates cleaning equipment, sweeps, mops, shampoos, vacuums, scrubs, dusts and waxes floors in halls, restrooms and offices.
- Empty all trash receptacles, replaces light bulbs, cleans sand urns at entryway and sidewalks adjacent to the assigned building.
- Unclogs lavatories and toilets, cleans bathroom and restrooms fixtures.
- Moves office and facility furniture and equipment as required.
- Reports damage to structure and building equipment requiring repair
- Able to perform janitorial duties in accordance with established routine, work schedules and janitorial standards for resident's apartments, health center and the Westminster facility.
- Able to perform cleaning procedures in assigned areas as outlined in housekeeping policy and procedures manual.
- Able to operate janitorial equipment in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer's directives.
- Able to assure the established infection control and universal precautions and practices are maintained when performing janitorial procedures.
- Able to clean carpet, floors and different areas with proper equipment and using the proper methods.
- Keeps records of cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Able to dispense supplies as needed to appropriate personnel.
- Able to perform all additional janitorial job tasks as required by management.
- Able to attend in-service training on janitorial techniques, safety practices, fire emergency and simple bacterial instructions as required.
- Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, weekends, holidays and in other positions, temporarily when necessary.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to speak, print, read, and understand the English language.
- Able to follow daily job sequences.
- High School graduates or equivalent.
- Prior housekeeping experience preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMAND:
- Requires the ability to safely lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Able to stand for 8 or more hours.
