Description

Personal trainers provide personal fitness instruction to TWC members desiring a program tailored to their personal, specific needs. TWC trainers evaluate their clients’ individual physical fitness levels and keep track of their progress. We are proud to boast that our trainers are second to none and bring our members to levels of fitness they never dreamed of. TWC trainers also assist in the attainment of specific goals and TWC organizational goals. Comprehend and support TWC policies and standard procedures. Demonstrate respect, sensitivity and concern for members’ needs in a professional manner. Maintain a brilliant smile and positive attitude even at times under the most trying circumstances. Thorough understanding of hospitality and service is a must. Represent the spa & fitness and its philosophy, by each staff member maintaining a healthy, fit appearance and a positive attitude.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Greet clients with a brilliant smile and utmost respect; educate members on fitness-related topic
  2. Conduct a risk assessment and health consultation, PAR-Q,maintaining a high level of confidentiality, conduct fitness assessments, design and implement individual workout programs, demonstrate and coach clients on the proper use of cardiovascular and strength equipment; promote safe technique and form when weight training.
  3. Trainers develop programs and choose exercises that provide the optimum results and take into account the activities their clients enjoy and take into account their clients short term and long term health and fitness goals.
  4. TWC personal trainers act as motivators who push clients to their physical limits. If a client has suffered an athletic injury, the trainer may create a special rehabilitation program.
  5. Trainers must be keen in recognizing any situation that may require referring client to physical therapist on site for medical advice.Trainers must be able to demonstrate the movements and exercises

Qualifications


Knowledge and Skill Set Requirements

  1. Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training techniques
  2. Must require great skill with people. Must be able to speak and understand English.

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/ Qualifications Required

The following explains our expectations of our Personal Trainers at TWC:

  • CPR/1st Responders Certification

Holds a bachelor’s degree in the field of exercise physiology, kinesiology, physical therapy, athletic training or related field, plus one IHRSA accredited certification.

OR

• Holds 2 IHRSA accredited personal training certifications.

All trainers must hold at least one IHRSA accredited certification and agree to present written documentation that registration for a second certification has been set within 4 months of hire in order to continue training at the fitness center throughout the winter months and/or returning for in season months.

Accepted Personal Training Certifications from the following:

  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • Cooper Institute
  • International Fitness Professionals Association
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • National Council of Strength and Fitness
  • National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association
  • National Exercise Trainers Association
  • National Federation of Personal Trainers
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
  • United States Career Institute

Physical Requirements

  1. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and have ability to demonstrate any movements expected of Clients during training sessions.

Standard Club Requirements:

Employees are expected to present a clean and neat appearance while on the job. Clothing is to be kept clean and pressed. Personal cleanliness is expected, including wearing deodorant, bathing and oral hygiene. Excessive make-up and jewelry is not permitted. Employees are expected to arrive to work on time and leave personal belongings at home or in a locker. Employees should conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with members, management and other staff.

Work Hours:

Full and Part time employees must work all scheduled shifts. We have a short three month season at the Westmoor Club and need every employee to be here 100% of the time that they were hired for. Requested days off will try to be honored by management but never guaranteed. If there is a scheduling need within the club, that takes priority. This includes Holiday’s, Mornings, Afternoons, Nights and Weekends. If an employee is sick they are expected to get their shift covered and speak directly to a manager for approval. All employee shift changes must be put in writing on a (shift change request form) and approved by a manager. We do understand that people get sick and things come up so please be flexible and helpful to other employees that may need a shift covered.
