REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager
SHIFT(S): Continental Shift (2-2-3), Nights (5:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.)

Our Wilson County donut facility currently produces more than 2.5 million donuts a day, and we are growing our capacity to meet customer demands all over North America! We employ more than 200 non-union team members and operate in a state-of-the-art, 230,000 square foot facility. We operate four (4) highly automated production lines and possess a strong, team-oriented culture that works together in a 24/7 environment.
Weston Foods is expanding its operations in 2020, and will be adding a 5th high speed donut line to the North American network. We make Yeast & Cake Donuts, Yeast & Cake Donut Holes, Bars, Apple Fritters, and Cinnamon Rolls for our retail and wholesale customers.
Our Quality Assurance Technicians are essential to our success, and are responsible for providing technical, quality assurance support to the plant on the night shift.
Other Responsibilities:
- Investigates and analyzes product or raw material quality problems and develops, recommends, implements corrective measures as necessary
- Fries off samples and evaluates results
- Audits sample data taken for use in the implementation of the plant’s IPM (Integrated Process Management) System
- Identifies process problems through the use of statistical analysis
- Suggests and implements corrective measures to improve the manufacturing processes
- Records and communicates results through reports, meetings and voicemail as required
- Monitors incoming raw materials to ensure materials meet our specifications
- Ensures compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards as well as HAACP compliance and other food safety and workplace safety initiatives
- Support activities of other departments such as Production, Dry Warehouse, and Sanitation through auditing
- Communicates with other departments to ensure that substandard product is identified
- Ensures that substandard product is not packed and/or shipped and that it is disposed of as waste, rework or thrift inventory
- Assists in the development of standards and procedures for new and existing products
- Continuously strives to improve processes to eliminate waste
- Leads and contributes to the efforts of Continuous Improvement Teams
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-year degree in laboratory science, food technology or related field required
- However, related experience in food quality assurance role(s) will also be considered
- Demonstrated knowledge of statistics, SPC fundamentals and laboratory skills
- Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP and food safety compliance
- Solid computer proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are essential
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- Ability to function and contribute in a team environment
- AIB or other food industry training is a plus
