Perennials and Annuals Sales Team Member

Weston Nurseries, one of the area’s leading garden centers and wholesalers of plant material and gardening products is excited to announce we are seeking a dedicated and professional individual join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a customer-centric retail or hospitality environment and thoroughly enjoy working alongside fellow employees and customers.

The Perennials Sales Team Member position involves customer service, sales, and various responsibilities related to the maintenance and operation of the perennial sales area. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn and grow within the role, with training provided for necessary skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist customers with perennial plant purchases as well as add-on sales of related products.
• Plant health care for the department including a watering schedule, pest management, deadheading.
• When appropriate, assist with purchases in other areas of the Garden Center and interact with other sales departments to provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service to Weston Nurseries retail customers.
• Work to unload incoming plant shipments, follow receiving procedures, and assist in creating an inspiring sales area.
• Assists with plant placement and tagging. Helps ensure plant health through deadheading, pruning, monitoring for pests/diseases and watering.
• Removes all plant material from the sales area that does not meet our high-quality standards.
• Maintains a high standard of cleanliness daily.

Requirements:

• Horticultural knowledge and an ability to learn with a focus on Perennials, Vines, Roses and Groundcovers, acquired through either formal training or on the job learning.
• Familiarity with botanical names and plant maintenance is a plus.
• Familiarity with care and sales of annuals, tropicals, house plants and succulents
• Excellent communication skills. Ability to speak and understand English
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Must be dependable, punctual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work outside in all weather (will need work boots)
• Be a team player working with a diverse group of people
• Able to work on your feet for 8-hour shifts and lift 50 lbs. regularly

• Pay Range: $18 .00- 30.00 per hour BOE
