The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire an Assistant Business Manager to assist the Director of Finance in the supervision of the School Business Office. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Director of Finance. The Assistant Business Manager will oversee facilities use, student activities accounts, revolving accounts, grants, and the online payment system. About the Weston Public SchoolsThe Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 1,960 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12).

- Respond to finance and budget related inquiries and requests from school and town personnel, as well as the public
- Attend municipal and district meetings as required
- Prepare financial and business reports through MUNIS, Google Docs, PowerPoint, and/or Excel, keeping the Director of Finance fully informed on all aspects of the business and financial operations of the school department
- Prepare benchmarking data utilizing the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's reporting databases, and/or other sources as needed, to answer questions posed by the School Committee, Finance Committee, and others
- Analyze financial and budget related matters and conducts research
- Compile data from statistical studies and budget analysis, maintains database of budget history, and assist in the development of multi-year forecasts of revenues and expenditures to assist in budget preparation and analysis
- May provide analytical support for the development and review of programs and policies affecting the budget
- Prepare regular budget reports and presentations for school committee, senior management, program administrators, boards, and committees to depict rates of spending versus budget and identify potential budget problems
- Coordinate, maintain and report for all Federal and State projects (grants, revolving funds, and capital) including overseeing completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Assist in the coordination and completion of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education End-of-Year Report and assist with other annual reports
- Maintain personnel budget and projections by working with Human Resources Department
- Review and keep current on new or revised finance related laws and regulations affecting the schools
- Assist in procurement of goods, materials and services required for operation of the school system
- Assist with the implementation, training, maintenance, and use of MUNIS (financial application) system in the school department
- Review and process all requisitions under $500.
- Oversee and maintain online payment system.
- Work with schools and Head Bookkeeper to ensure proper tracking of each event and funding coming into the system
- Review and enter all Budget Transfer and Journal Entry requests and documents
- Perform special projects and other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates
- Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, or a finance related discipline, Master's degree preferred
- 1-3 years of finance/budget related experience
- Experience in budget development and financial analysis, with knowledge of finance/business management and general accounting principles
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and ERP/Computerized accounting systems (MUNIS preferred)
- Flexibility and the desire to work in a team environment
- Organized, efficient, and capable of meeting deadlines
- Maturity, and the ability to maintain confidential information
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year.
