School Information:
Westover School is a girls-centered boarding and day school for grades 9-12. Westover School is looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and dedicated Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach for the 2025 Spring Season. This is a part-time position that requires approximately 16 hours per week (see below). The Head Lacrosse Coach will report directly to the Athletic Director. Hours:
- Practices typically run 4:00 - 5:30 pm, Mon/Tues/Thur/Fri. Wednesday and Saturdays are game days. If no game is scheduled for Wednesday, practices are held.
- Preseason begins the first week of March, 3/3 - 3/7, prior to spring break. The season begins March 24 and ends on May 26.
Responsibilities and qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience coaching at the high school or college level and/or a successful personal background in lacrosse.
- Have extensive knowledge of game strategies, the ability to develop technical skills as well as the ability to plan and direct competitively appropriate and fun practices.
- Have a proven track record of success.
- Be passionate about the sport, enthusiastic about coaching young adults, and excited to make a difference in the lives of their players.
- Safely and effectively coach and travel with the team.
- Carry out the policies and protocols detailed in Westover’s Employee and Coaching Handbook.
- Possess or be willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism.
- Be relentlessly positive, friendly, warm, and dedicated.
- Passionate about working in an independent school setting.
- Be collaborative and work well with members of the Athletic Department.
- Pass Federal and State background checks.
- Possess or be willing to obtain a CT drivers license with an “A” endorsement is a plus.
