Are you interested in becoming a Groundskeeper? Westport Properties is looking to hire a skilled groundskeeper/landscaper (with possible desire to learn some maintenance skills) for our groundskeeper position. Exceptional attention to detail and valid drivers license is required. You will be maintaining the exteriors of our portfolio of properties, picking up grounds, maintaining lawns, bushes, trees, stairwells, rock beds, etc. as well as some landscape projects like retaining walls, building rock beds, etc. Job may entail some work on interiors trashing out units, etc. You will help maintain the properties to have the best curb appeal possible. Additional skills, including knowledge in plumbing, electrical, repair and renovations (doors, windows, sinks, paint, flooring, etc.) are a plus.

Job Details
- Job Title: Groundskeeper (Full-Time)
- Locations: Lawrence & Topeka, KS
- Pay range: $16 - $20 per hour (depending on experience)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate hand tools and power equipment, mowing and weed eating when necessary
- Shoveling and moving landscape rocks to create or repair rock beds
- Exterior repairs to fences or buildings with some painting
- Rebuild retaining walls
- Maintain pools with chemicals and hand cleaning
- Daily pick up of trash, pet feces, leaves, branches, weeds, etc.
- Prevent and eliminate weeds by pulling and/or spraying
- Administer weed killer and fertilizers
- Pressure wash exteriors and stairwells occasionally
- Sweeping and vacuuming stairwells
- Drive to properties as needed to perform the required work
- Work directly with and answer to Maintenance Supervisor (and Property Managers) with constant communication throughout each day working as a team to efficiently keep the curb appeal at its best.
- Looks to provide proactive maintenance instead of reactive maintenance
- Participating as an integral part of the maintenance team in timely snow removal and ice melt application efforts
- Maintaining a high level of professionalism and appearance on the job and projecting this professionalism to all team members, residents, owners, vendors and subcontractors
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail to maximize the curb appeal
- Self-motivation and ability to work autonomously
- Be able to walk outside all day in any weather, including up and down stairs and uneven grounds, bending over often to pick up items on the ground
- Physical strength and stamina
- Able to lift, push or pull heavy objects up to and over 50 lbs.
- Able to shovel, dig, rake and other landscape skills
- Clean driving record
- Valid state drivers license
- Ability to drive to properties
