Shop Helper

POSITION SUMMARY

• APPLY IN PERSON AT 4031 FAYE ROAD, JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA, 32226. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 7:30A.M. -4:30 P.M.
• Under the supervision of the shop manager, performs basic maintenance/repairs, clean-up duties to maintain a safe and organized shop, and other duties as necessary.
• Pressure washing and cleaning parts per management instructions.
• Shop & Facility cleaning and organization, trash removal, machinery maintenance, assistance with internal improvement projects, organizing & cleaning of shop tools and equipment.
• Includes but not limited to forklift operation, test center cleaning, sandblasting equipment, saw(s) and cutting equipment, other as identified

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Ensures shop cleanliness and proper organization.
• Processes, tracks, and organizes parts to and from mechanics, parts stores, and/or shop.
• Operates computer to document, track, and process requests.
• Makes repairs and performs routine/basic maintenance on shop equipment.
• Monitors and reports all safety-related issues as related to the shop area or any location where maintenance is being performed.

Technical and Mechanical skills

• Clean Driving Record.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to read and comprehend repair manuals.
• Maintain a good attitude when representing Westside Electric in public.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• 1-2 years’ experience with vehicle or heavy equipment maintenance or repair (preferred)
• Experience with various hand tools including but not limited to: power and compressed air tools (impact wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, etc.), pressure washer, shop-vac, etc.

Physical Requirements:

• May be subject to bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, and lifting, such as retrieving and replacing materials, supplies, and inventory or while cleaning the shop.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment

• The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job.
• Work is performed in warehouse.
• Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a industrial project.
• Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
