The Dental Assistant acts as the dentist’s “third hand” at chair-side, sets up equipment, prepares the patient for treatment and keeps records, and must be caring, reliable and have good manual dexterity. The Resident Coordinator manages the administrative aspects of the dental residency program and participates in the orientation and training of dental residents.

Responsibilities of the Dental Assistant/Resident Coordinator:
- Prepare operatory for patients with proper instruments, materials and equipment for each particular procedure
- Have patient seated and prepped on schedule
- Record all patient information accurately and completely in electronic dental record system
- Schedule patients for extractions and surgical procedures
- Review all post-operative instructions with patient following extraction and surgical procedures
- Take, develop and mount x-rays
- Keep operatories clean and properly stocked at all times
- Maintain proper inventory of supplies
- Participate in orientation program for incoming dental residents each year
- Prepare statistical report each month for Dental Site Lead and Director of Dental Operations to track progress of each resident
- Work closely with the dental residents in Dentrix charting, posting and documentation
- Work closely with the dental residents in understanding community health and treating patients of diverse populations
- Expose dental residents to a variety of dental materials, dental instrumentation, time and behavior management situations
- Formulate monthly schedule for the dental residents and act as liaison between Christiana Care GPR and WFH
Requirements
MINIMUM OBJECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Dental Assistant certification
- Basic life support certification
- X-ray certification
- Six months of experience using Microsoft Office software
- Six months of experience using electronic dental or medical record software
