POSITION: Head Cross Country Coach
REPORTS TO: This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.
DESCRIPTION: Instruct student athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, rules, and physical training needed for individual and team success in cross country. Promote participation, self-confidence, work ethic, and good sportsmanship in each student involved.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of the sport.
- Ability to obtain current CPR / First Aid when applicable. Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complies with department / district policies.
- Maintains consistent communication with Athletic Director
- Develop positive self image with athletics
- Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills / techniques.
- Demonstrate public support / loyalty for coaches.
- Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials.
- Demonstrates effective management of pre-contest details. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
