Director of Upper School Admission

Westtown School seeks an experienced boarding school admission professional to serve as Director of Upper School Admission on our dynamic enrollment team. Guided by Westtown’s mission and reporting to the Dean of Enrollment Management, the Director of Upper School Admission will lead the successful recruitment, selection, enrollment and retention of mission-aligned students in the upper school. 

Westtown School is an independent, Quaker co-educational, pre-K to 12, college preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. On a beautiful 600-acre campus, Westtown offers a program where our committed faculty and staff inspire and prepare our students to be stewards and leaders of a better world. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the admission and enrollment cycle for all new upper school students, leading the four-person upper school admission team to achieve the school’s enrollment goals.
• Generate interest in Westtown and expand the pool of mission-aligned day, boarding and international applicants by cultivating relationships with feeder schools, educational consultants, program leaders and other recruitment partners.
• Nurture authentic relationships with prospective students and their families throughout the enrollment cycle, providing outstanding customer service from inquiry through matriculation.
• Collaborate closely with upper school program leaders to evaluate, select, yield and retain students using professional judgment and an accurate understanding of the qualities of students who thrive at Westtown.
• Partner with the Dean of Enrollment to strategically allocate need-based financial aid and coordinate the school’s merit scholarship program.
• Embrace a schedule that will include representing Westtown at on- and off-campus events on some evenings and weekends, as well as seasonal regional, national and potentially international travel.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and results-oriented professional who enjoys working with teenagers and demonstrates the following:

• Bachelor’s degree required;
• 5 years of boarding school admission experience, with a preference for leadership experience and engagement in industry organizations;
• Ability to articulate the value of Westtown’s independent boarding school education;
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing;
• Proficiency with technology including Google Workspace, integrated SIS, and CRM (Blackbaud and Hubspot preferred);
• Excellent time management, organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail and deadlines;
• Self-motivated and results-focused, with a proven record of success;
• Adaptable and team-oriented, with a positive outlook and a sense of humor;
