Emerging Educators Fellowship
Westtown School is accepting applications for the Emerging Educator Fellowship program for the 2025-26 school year. This fellowship program provides early career educators with mentorship, professional development, and hands-on teaching experience while serving as integral Westtown School faculty members. Rooted in our mission to develop the individual gifts of our community members, the Emerging Educators Fellowship is designed to provide practical experience grounded in the talents of the individual educators.
Essential Responsibilities- Lower School Fellow
Serve as an assistant teacher in a 1st to 5th grade classroom with a supervising Lower School lead teacher;- Participate actively in the life of the Lower School, including special events, assemblies, and field trips;
- Serve as a substitute teacher for additional Lower School grades/special classes, as assigned;
- Coach or assist with Middle School co-curricular activities or sports each of the three athletic seasons;
- Supervise students during recess and as needed during the school day;
- Meet regularly with the Emerging Educators cohort;
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and committee meetings as assigned;
- Plan and implement two model lessons with observation and feedback from the Lower School Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or other related field;- Student teaching or other instructional experience is preferred but not required;
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a camp or other setting;
- Knowledge of early child development and a commitment to social-emotional learning;
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;
- A demonstrated commitment to inclusive Quaker pedagogy based on cultural competence, commitment to social justice, and respect for all voices;
- Familiarity with Google products and ability to integrate technology into best teaching practices;
- A strong affinity for the mission of Westtown School and an appreciation for Quaker values and how these inform community processes (meeting structures, decision-making, student discipline, etc.) and interactions.
