Swim Lesson Instructor
Westtown School is seeking several part-time instructors to conduct swim lessons from April 28 - July 18, 2025. Swim lessons will be structured in five 2-week sessions. Instructors must be available to work a minimum of two 2-week sessions. Previous swim instruction experience is preferred but is not required. Swim lessons instructors will be trained on the curriculum they will teach to children ages 2.5 to 13 years. The skills will range from basic survival skills in the water to the fundamental freestyle stroke. The regular hours will be between 2:45 pm and 7:00 pm, depending on the session hours.

Essential Responsibilities
Understand the curriculum taught at each skill level;- Implement the proper teaching techniques in a small class of swimmers;
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with swimmers of all ages;
- Some instructors of younger students may be asked to take swimmers to the bathroom and return them to their class;
- Ability to exercise patience in dealing with distressed and unwilling swimmers, as necessary.
Qualifications
Ability and enthusiasm to work with young children- Prior swim lesson or other teaching experience preferred but not required
- Availability to attend required training held prior to the first day of lessons
- Commitment is imperative. Instructors must commit to each 2-week session in full. Please provide a list of your conflicts before you begin.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to provide necessary instruction to swimmers, the ability to provide short and concise feedback to parents, and the ability to ask for help from supervisors
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs
- Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist swimmers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
