About The Role
- Westwin Elements is seeking a Pipe Designer to support the design, layout, and integration of piping systems for America’s first nickel refinery. This role will focus on developing detailed piping designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with engineers and construction teams to deliver efficient and high-quality piping solutions.
- Assist in developing and reviewing piping designs, layouts, and isometric drawings for process and utility systems.
- Utilize 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant, or similar) to create and modify piping designs.
- Ensure that piping designs align with project specifications, industry standards (ASME, API, ANSI), and safety regulations.
- Work closely with process engineers, mechanical engineers, and structural designers to integrate piping systems into the overall plant design.
- Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, assist with field engineering, and support troubleshooting efforts.
- Support material selection, pipe routing, and system optimization under the guidance of senior designers and engineers.
- Assist procurement and construction teams by providing technical input on piping components and specifications.
- Review vendor drawings and technical documents to ensure alignment with design requirements.
- Support project teams during construction, including reviewing field modifications and assisting in the resolution of design conflicts.
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3 years of experience in piping design, preferably in industrial, chemical, mining, or refinery projects.
- Proficiency in 3D piping design software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant, or AVEVA E3D.
- Familiarity with piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API, ANSI).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective communication skills and experience coordinating with engineers and construction teams.
