This position is 7 hours/day - 187 days/school year.
Purpose Statement:
The job of Infant Child Care Assistant is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the supervision of infants and children; performing classroom clerical tasks; assisting students/mothers in meeting the needs of their child; and helping to support them in developing daily living skills.
Essential Functions
• Administers first aid to children as may be required for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
• Assists infants and toddlers (e.g. feeding, changing diapers, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care to infants and children.
• Cleans work areas (e.g. changing tables, cribs, sinks, linens, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary environment.
• Coordinates with a variety of agencies/individuals (e.g. Campbell County Developmental Center, principal, nurse, students/parents, health department, etc.) for the purpose of providing and obtaining information necessary in maintaining an effective and efficient work environment.
• Maintains child care facilities for the purpose of ensuring a sanitary and safe environment for infants and toddlers.
• Oversees individuals in the day care setting (e.g. student aides, mothers, etc.) for the purpose of assisting them in their duties and maintaining records related to their attendance.
• Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. attendance, daily medication, immunization records, student schedules, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing necessary records/materials.
• Promotes good habits (e.g. parental skills, etc.) for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcome and encouraging student development.
• Receives and delivers children directly from/to parents or designee for the purpose of ensuring safety of children and meeting district requirements.
Other Functions
• Assists other personnel, as may be required, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; administering first aid; performing standard bookkeeping; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: accounting/bookkeeping principles; age appropriate activities; stages of child development; and state day care license regulations.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; working in a stressful and emotional environment; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; enjoy working with infants and toddler; and communicating effectively.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 60% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
