Westwood Hills Animal Hospital is a privately owned, small animal, general practice located in Walker, MI. We are a fast-paced practice seeing mostly dogs and cats. We have three part-time veterinarians and focus on high quality, patient centered care.

We are looking for a Licensed Veterinarian to join our team. A successful candidate will be professional, adaptable, caring, empathetic, able to work effectively with others, and enjoy being part of a team.

This position involves diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, and educating pet owners on proper animal care. The Veterinarian will work in a collaborative environment, ensuring the health and well-being of our patients while fostering a positive experience for pet owners.
DUTIES:
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health status.
- Diagnose medical conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Direct team members to complete treatment plans
- Perform surgical procedures as needed, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Administer vaccinations and medications to animals.
- Provide urgent veterinary care during office hours only. No after hours emergency care required.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely medical records for all patients treated. We use Talkatoo software to enhance the charting experience.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in ongoing professional development.
EXPERIENCE:
Candidates should have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution. A current Michigan Veterinarian License, Pharmacy License, Federal DEA License, and USDA Federal Accreditation is required (or ability and plan to obtain within 60 days).
Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:
- Comprehensive physical examination
- Dermatology, Internal Medicine, General Medicine
- Ultrasound
- Radiology Interpretation
- General veterinary practices and procedures
- Skills in general soft tissue, oral, and dental surgery
- Developing a comprehensive differential list and plan for diagnosis and treatment
- A passion for pet care and commitment to providing exceptional service
REPORTS TO:
Practice Owner
SCHEDULE:
Four Full days (8-9 hours) per week with one day off per week. One Saturday every 4 weeks. Appointments are scheduled every 30 minutes.
Our ideal schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9:00 to 6:00 and Friday 8:00-5:00. Every fourth Saturday from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.
Part-time is available.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds unassisted consistently. Able to sit, stand, stoop, walk, stretch, bend, and reach frequently.
- Must be able to tolerate unpleasant odors, sounds, and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and contagious disease.
- May spend many hours standing or sitting for long periods of time
- Must feel and express a genuine liking for animals and for working in an animal care environment.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and under the broad general supervision of the practice owner.
- Must be able to use sound personal judgement in selecting methods, establishing priorities, and arriving at conclusions
- Must be able to tactfully demonstrate "take charge" capabilities
- Deal intelligibly, pleasantly, and efficiently with clients on the phone and in person
- Work almost constantly in the presence of other staff members and clients
- Be flexible in attitude and work habits
