Job Title: Night Watch Kiln Assistant (10PM–6AM)
Location: Westwood Millworks - 7493 Airport Dr, Macon, GA 31216
Job Type: Full-Time – Entry Level
Shift Hours: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Pay Rate: $15/hour
Job Overview:
We’re looking for a reliable, responsible individual to join our team as a Night Watch Kiln Assistant. This overnight position is ideal for someone who’s dependable and comfortable working independently. No prior kiln experience is needed — we’ll train you on the job.
You’ll be helping monitor the drying process of lumber in our kilns, doing occassional walkarounds, and keeping things running smoothly through the night.
What You’ll Do:
- Walk around and check kiln areas periodically during your shift.
- Monitor kiln controls from computer program and/or PLC.
- Record temperatures and basic information on a log sheet.
- Look for anything out of the ordinary, like strange noises or smoke.
- Make sure things are safe, secure, and running like they should.
- Communicate anything important to the day crew when your shift ends.
What We’re Looking For:
- No experience needed — just a good work ethic and willingness to learn an easy role.
- Able to work overnight and stay alert.
- Dependable and able to work on your own.
- Can lift up to 40–50 lbs infrequently, if ever.
- Good communicator – especially when passing info between shifts.
