Westwood Preparatory Academy is an Ohio community school that solely works with students in treatment facilities. Because of this, we understand the unique challenges our students face every day while in placement. Our student-centered approach begins by understanding the individual academic needs of every student. From there we develop a plan to educate, with the goal for every child to advance academically during their stay. We work closely with the clinical staff at each facility we partner with to make sure our students receive a holistic web of support. Our teachers and staff are deeply invested in the success of our students, both academically and clinically.
Westwood Preparatory Academy is looking for creative, energetic, passionate teachers and administrators to work with students in a local adolescent residential treatment centers. Please see below for a job description.
Teachers with the following license areas are highly encouraged to apply:
K-12 Intervention Specialist
4-9 Math/Reading/Science/Social Studies
K-5 Math/Language Arts/Science/Social Studies
Purpose:
- To carry out the professional duties of a teacher and provide students under his/her direct supervision a quality educational aligned with the Ohio Common Core Standards.
- To be an effective professional to students and colleagues, demonstrate knowledge of the curriculum, teach and assess effectively, and demonstrate interest in self professional development.
Employment Requirements:
- Bachelors of Arts or Science
- Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate/ License
- Experience in Planning, Teaching, and Classroom Management
- Experience in Monitoring, Assessing, Recording, and Reporting Student Growth
- Appropriate criminal records through both BCI/FBI
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all employees
- Professional Attitude
Responsibilities:
- Plan and Implement Lessons
- Organize/File Student Work
- Demonstrate skill in a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of all students
- Demonstrate knowledge of Special Education regulations/ forms
- Demonstrate knowledge of tiered instruction
- Demonstrate knowledge of Curriculum Software
- Be well versed in the content area that is being taught
- Demonstrate knowledge in written and spoken language
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with both students and colleagues
- Establish and maintain classroom procedures
- Provide clear expectations for students
- Provide Evidence of continued professional development
- Participate in school/ district wide professional development days/ trainings
- Attend weekly staff and teacher-based-team meetings
- Maintain business casual attire
Employee may also be expected to carry out other reasonable duties if directed by a Director.
