What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tutor position at Westwood Tutors?
About the company:
I began tutoring locally in L.A. at 15 years old, and later founded “Westwood Tutors” while attending UCLA. My client base has expanded, and I am seeking exceptional tutors to meet the growing demand while preserving the reputation I’ve built.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule lessons with your assigned students and show up on time.
- Provide high-quality K-12 tutoring and academic support.
- Assign practice problems at the end of the session.
- Update parents on their student’s progress.
- Communicate with me when you have questions/concerns.
Requirements:
- 7 hours of availability per week during business hours (Mon-Fri 3–9 PM; Weekends 9 AM–9 PM).
- Previous tutoring experience and a score of 5 on the AP exam for the subject(s) you plan on tutoring.
- You feel a deep sense of fulfillment and accomplishment when a student learns something from you.
- You are curious, empathetic, mature, and responsible.
- You can adapt to a wide range of learning styles and personalities.
Compensation:
- $32 - $39/hr
- W-2 part-time, not 1099 contracting (taxes withheld from paycheck and company pays for half of your social security and medicare tax)
Interview Process
- Have a casual conversation with me.
- Pass a knowledge check for the subjects you want to tutor.
- Perform well in paid tutoring simulation with a real student.
