Job Title: Education Intern

Status: Part -Time, Non - Exempt, Hybrid
Hourly Rate: $18.00

Outreach and Engagement department interns support various assignments, including writing, events management, data compilation, marketing, and web research. They will also support grant-funded work centered around early childhood programming. This work includes developing materials, content, and activities, as well as logistics and communication with community partners and volunteers. Interns will work directly with families and children in a variety of settings, such as schools, libraries, and childcare centers. Candidates must be active college students.
Primary Responsibilities
WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.

Primary Responsibilities
- The intern will work alongside the education manager on grant-funded events and educational workshops, including onsite/virtual support, logistics, registration, marketing, and distribution of follow-up materials.
- Research various topics, such as digital and media literacy, working with Indigenous Latinx communities, and computational thinking in early education.
- Gather and process data collected from participants and partners via surveys, informal assessments, and anecdotal notes.
- The intern will create and distribute educational materials on a range of topics related to our educational initiatives. These materials will be designed for educators, families, and community partners.
- Write summative reports of the impact & outcomes of events.
- Preferred Major: Education (Early Childhood/Elementary), English, Communications and Journalism majors.
- The outreach and engagement process, from conceptualizing an idea to pitching it to stakeholders to executing the project.
- Developing and strengthening community partnerships with local organizations, such as neighborhood groups, special interest groups, government, and libraries.
